Creative Collingwood Symposium – Booming Success!

November 22nd, 2016

Collingwood, ON [18 November 2016] – Parks Recreation and Culture & the South Georgian Bay Small Business Enterprise Centre hosted a record breaking turnout for the 3rd annual Creative Collingwood Symposium on Wednesday November, 9th at the Simcoe Street Theatre.

Over 100 ‘Creatives’ from across South Georgian Bay who describe themselves as artists, creative professionals, business owners, volunteers and cultural enthusiasts enjoyed a keynote presentation given by Jeremy Freiburger of Cobalt Connects in Hamilton.

The theme – Inspiring the Extraordinary – created a buzz in the auditorium that was followed by a variety of well considered questions.

In her opening remarks, Mayor Sandra Cooper described the Creative Collingwood Symposium as a way to “bring together Collingwood’s vibrant and energetic arts community to network, share ideas and learn.”

Two breakout sessions followed Jeremy’s presentation, prompting much reflection. Kirsty Stevenson offered solutions for creatives to find success online and local creative professionals, Chris Robinson, Erica Angus and Lory MacDonald discussed the ‘business’ of being creative. The event wrapped up with a networking session in which new connections were made and opportunities for collaboration initiated.
Feedback from participants echoed the upbeat and positive vibe of the event, and provided some ideas for discussion for a 2017 Creative Collingwood Symposium.
