Collingwood Celebrates International Women’s Day

March 16th, 2017

Wednesday March 8th, 2017, (International Women’s Day) was the 4th annual Celebration of Success for Women entrepreneurs. The event was hosted by the Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) in partnership with the Centre for Business and Economic Development and who provided sponsorship. It was held at a local foodie favourite, Sol Kitchen in Collingwood.

Once again tickets sold out days before the event, and over 50 women were in attendance from all across the South Georgian Bay region including visitors from as far afield as Toronto. When we asked Tim Newton, the Manager of SBEC, what the key message was at this year’s event, he said their objective was to bring women entrepreneurs together to connect, learn and grow. ‘It was a privilege to be in the company of such an extraordinary mix of entrepreneurial women. Events like this really do confirm to me that the South Georgian Bay area is a hot bed of business activity. From new startups to seasoned entrepreneurs there was no shortage of dynamic conversation all evening’ added Tim.

Highly regarded business owner, Sandra Kahale of OnWord Consulting, was brought in by the SBEC to facilitate. She helped to inspire an interactive evening focusing on celebrating success as a woman and an entrepreneur. Utilizing these discussion points led to engaging and authentic conversation.

  • * Share your successes and lessons you’ve learned;
  • * Reflect on key areas of your business and how you’re measuring progress;
  • * Learn why taking the time to celebrate and share success is so powerful.

The popular learning and networking event for women included a dinner featuring product from entrepreneur Shelby Taylor, CEO of Chickapea Pasta who teamed up with another local foodie favourite,  Sol Kitchen.

As the evening drew to a close event organizers reported to have heard participants say ‘we can hardly wait for next year’s event!’…
